Newsmy K2 Quad-Core 1.5GHz MT6589T processor

Except the slight light leak in the surrounding of the screen, its IPS technology is worth praising. Newsmy K2 adopts the Lewa customized system interface based on Android 4.2 with only an added customized Lanucher; the icons of the built-in functions are quite exquisite, which can have good performance with the 1080p screen.

The home page of Newsmy adopts two-level menu. All the APP lists can be entered through the key of “all programs” in the Dock bar, which can be also realized via sliding upwards the screen bottom. The home page can be called out like pulling down the notification bar in the APP lists interface. The functions seeming gaudy are of no practical usages. However, it’s not convenient to see the notification bar and return to the home page from the L2 menu.

The support for playing 1080p HD videos is quite amazing. During the test, except that RMVB format is not supported or occasional mute state occurs, most HD videos can be played quite smoothly; the display effect on its 5.5-inch Newsmy K2 screen is quite charismatic.

By contrast, the game property is not that outstanding. As to MT6589T, it can support the screen with1080p resolution, but the effect is not quite good for the sliding on the main screen can be barely smooth, which affects a lot on the games. Constricted by the 1080p resolution, Riptide GP2 and Need for Speed17 are tested, but the feedback is not that ideal.

1300W pixel display camera has good performance
In the aspect of the shooting function, Newsmy K2 is collocated with a 1300W back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 500W pixel display front-facing camera. Besides, the auto focus and LED flashlight are supported. Its functions include HDR, skin beautifying, panorama shooting, and so on. Moreover, multiple modes to frame is supported.

Seen from the sample pictures, the color is quite vivid especially the colorful samples; the exposure in both outdoor frontlighing and backlight is accurate and even the magnified details can be displayed well. Besides, its cheap price is also quite attractive.
Analysis of the MT6589T processor and the summary
Newsmy K2 is collocated with M6589T processor from MTK, which is the upgraded version of MT6589; the main frequency is elevated to 1.5GHz and GPU is also developed in frequency.
MT6589T adopts ARMv7 instruction set, Cortex-A7 framework, quad-core with 1.5Ghz frequency, 28nm processing technology. Besides, the L2 buffer memory is preinstalled. Meanwhile, PowerVR SGX 5XT graphic processing chip is collocated with the processing frequency of 357MHz. MT6589 efficiently optimizes multiple-mode UMTS Rel. 8/HSPA+/TD-SCDMA modem, which supports various multimedia functions, including 1080p 30fps videos playing with low power dissipation.

conclusion:
Its 1080p screen is no doubt the spotlight and the display effect is quite amazing. The workmanship of the panel is avant-garde. However, it also has shortcomings. MT6589 and even MT6589T are not sufficient to support the HD videos, especially in the games, which can be proved by the performance software and actual experience in playing games.
